It’s good to get into the New Year – I always enjoy the fresh start, and the promise of the days starting to stretch out. Polly, our English Setter gets a spring in her step, as our walks get a bit longer. Most importantly I can look forward to photographing in natural light more.
January has seen the start of a new round of photography for Pioneer Retail in Carlisle. The first photography shoot including ‘Kitchen Ready’ produce – delicious winter comfort food, perfect for these cold, wintery days.
Here is a small selection of produce photographed – tasty, tempting oven ready meatballs and savoury pies. It’s not hard to get in the zone of comfort food when it is snowing heavily and blowing a hoolie outside!
At the other end of the season ‘spectrum’ I had a range of BBQ summer kebabs to photograph… bright, cheerful accessories, salads & citrus fruits help set the scene for flavoursome kebabs and juicy burgers.
These images will have multiple uses – so when shooting I aim to include a flexible range of shots, landscape & portrait. I also like to include images shot from above, as well as from the diner’s perspective.
I work closely with Liquid Studios, which is a creative agency. This works brilliantly, as we can get our heads together to discuss how photography and design will work together on any project. From a graphic design perspective, it is always helpful to leave ‘empty space’ within an image. I am mindful of this, and will often leave a space that is a subtle texture – perfect for graphic overlays.
Here’s the latest leaflet designed by Liquid Studios for Pioneer – due in store at the beginning of February. Why not pop in store and pick up your copy?
If you are reading this post and have your own requirement for imagery please feel free to get in touch. Between Lou’s Larder and Liquid we can help with both photography and design 🙂
